for the thumbnails shown in Open window or Windows Explorer/My Computer

When I save an image as a .psd file, Photoshop CS is producing almost totally black preview images, but with white static.

These are thumbnails you see when you try to Open a file in Photoshop or when you are looking a file listing in Windows My Computer (and maybe Explorer, too).

Do I have something set wrong? How do I fix this? I used to be able to see the thumbnails for .psd files with my old version of Photoshop.

I see that CS2 offers Bridge, and that the thumbnails do appear correctly in it.

Is there any workaround so I can once again see the thumbnails for .psd files in Windows? And in Photoshop's own Open file window? (That seems particularly dysfunctional!)
