Image resolution for PowerPoint

Is there an optimal size?

I have to convert a selection of material from one of my websites into a PowerPoint presentation, and am wondering about file sizes for images. I don't use PowerPoint all that much, and am wondering if the images that are already in use on my webpages (perhaps 800x600 max) are suitable, or are too coarse. (I'm not talking about some kind of auto-conversion from web to PP; I'm going to create an original PP file with a different arrangement.)

Should I go back to the original digital camera images (2000x3000 and very large), or will the reduced versions project well in PP?

(Sorry if this is a naive question; I just don't use digital projectors very much.)

Are people going to print it out or just use it online? If they are going to print it out it should be about 800 x 600 at 200-300dpi. It can be 72-96dpi if you don't expect people to print it out.
