Hi,
I am designing a website for a company. My part of the job is to give templets in jpeg format so I am using Corel Draw to make them.

But the major problem is with the COLORS. When i assign any color to a object, it looks different on the laptop screen and different on the normal computer screen. This completely kills the look of the site. And it is important for the site to look good on various screens as it is an ecommerce website.

I tried so much but I think I am missing out on something. Can someone please help me?

Different screens have different colour settings.

There is very little you can do, except try to stick to, or close to, the so called 'web safe' colour palette.

You cannot possibly test on all the types of screens that may be used to access you site, so do the best you can and test with what you have.

Hi benihana.
thanks for your suggestion
But the web safe palette has very very limited colors. So does that mean that there is actually nothing that can be done?

theres very little to be done. as i mentioned, you cannot possibly predict the screen setup's people will be accessing your site with.

Personally, as long as there is sufficient contrast between elements so the site remains usable, I dont tend to worry about it too much.

Ya u are right, i tried to do various things but dosent seem that this problem can be solved. Or rather i would call it a limitation.
Anyways so just wanted to ask that if corel draw is the right thing to start using to design a website?
This is my first go at designing website as i m trained as an architect. Though I am not best at using corel,I felt that it was much more easier in terms of its usability for this. What do u think?

Hi,

Coreldraw uses a standard generic color profile for the monitor and that gives for most monitors the wrong colors.

if you have a disk that comes with your monitor install the drivers and change the profile in coreldraw to that of your monitor.

If you don't have a disk maybe you can find it on the internet.
