Hi slarabee

Welcome to Webmasterworld

This is pretty easy to acheive but the methods are different depending on the software you are using?

Fireworks? Photoshop? Illustrator? Freehand?

All have a 'map text to path' function.

In Fireworks/Freehand (the only ones I have handy today) you can draw an object; i.e. a circle, add text to the page, select them both and use the 'attatch text to path' setting from the text menu.

Either Photoshop 7 or Paintshop 9 which ever will be easiest.

in photoshop 7, choose a path tool (there are several, you'll want to choose the circle/elipse). It's located on the toolbar (by default on the left hand side).

Click and drag on the canvas to create your circle (you have to make sure the path's only method is selected, otherwise it will auto-fill with a colour. Path's only is amongst 3 icons in the toolbar at the top left of the screen where you normally change settings)

Once you have your circle, choose the text tool and click directly on the circle. This will allow you to type and the words will automatically snap to the shape.

It's a little hard to describe with just words, but persevere and you should get there.
