hi, how can i crop an image in adobe illustrator 8.0

Correct me if I am wrong but I don't think you can crop the image. Illustrator (like freehand) uses a workspace as oposed to canvas (pshop/fw) becasue it is vector based. You can change the page margins though & you can crop the file if you export it to an image optimiser like image ready or fireworks.

Limbo is correct. The best you can do in Illustrator is create a clipping mask that will "hide" the areas you want cropped, but if you export the image you will end up with extra white space where the cropped elements would be.

Your best bet is to export the image to Photoshop (or your favorite pixel-based image editor) and crop it from there.
