I have a link/image that needs to be changed. The image just links to other pages. For example, the link might say 'CONTACT US' but it's an image that I need to edit and then save in Photoshop. Now if I wanted to change 'CONTACT US' to something like 'EMAIL US' I'd have to do it in Photoshop but how?

It depends. You can't edit the current image if you have only a jpeg or gif. You would need to build a new image, so you would need a copy of the original font. The difficulty of the job would depend on the complexity of the image.

It's a pretty basic project but it entails a lot of basic skills so to get the best advice you should give some more information. Are you at work or at home? How much time do you have? Where did the original image come from? Are you in contact with the designer of the original image? Have you ever used Photoshop or any other image creating program before? Do you have suitable software on your current computer or would you have to go elsewhere to use it? And any other background that you think might be relevant.

If it's basic, eg: black text on a white box, you should recreate it in PS using the same dimensions and point to it. If you can't find the font, redo the original as well using a font that's close.
