Corel to Fireworks problem with transparent tif

Fireworks is inverting the text colour?!

Logo designer is using corel draw and is sending through a transparent tif for me to work with.

The text should be white with a black drop shadow but when I open it in Fireworks it is coming up with black text and a black drop shadow. The image is opening properly in Paint Shop Pro except the background isn't transparent...

Anyone have any ideas why Fireworks is doing this and how to sort it? The designer is going to try rendering it in Corel Draw with black text and a black drop shadow to see if FW still inverts the text colour - but I imagine it won't!

Could you not select the imported text and then apply the font colour (or does text data disappear cross software?). If so you could ask the designer to save the file as PNG. This will allow you to preseve the transparency and should remove that odd colour change, as PNG is the native file type for Fireworks

Maybe the graphic designer could optimise the image using Corel? I guess Corel has a save for web function...
