We are compliling a CD of photographs taken for a tourist site.

The clients want to purchase the images on CD when the job is complete to use as and and when they want to for local and national publication in print and web media.

The CD will comprise of around 100 high res Jpegs filed with a Simple HTML Index.

How much would you charge them?

I'm Not looking for specifics, just a ball park figure - I have one in mind but am not going to say - yet ;)

you client could in theory go to a stock agency and buy such a cd, which would cost from 29.99USD to 500USD

including photographer's fee? do they get exclusive use rights?

350 USD?

i found a good primer on how to negotiate stock photo licensing from the point of view of the buyer. Essentially, the use and perceived value of each photo determines the price. E.g. a photo used for an Annual Report is more valuable than a local advert.

i don't know if links are allowed here but this info i found at : howdesign dot com

having no experience in this stuff except that I once worked at a Fortune 100 company where we were always overcharged....I think for 100 jpegs with potentially high visibility ...I'd be looking for $ four digits vs three. Visit Corbis and see what they're getting for just one photo.

Thanks for the good advice.

We were thinking £500 for the lot, royalties and all (of course we retain these rights too)

The photo's range from superb individual shots to those that would only have value in a series, story board or under edit.

I thought that £500 might have been fairly expensive, but having had a look at corbis, istockphoto and a few others it is starting to sound quite reasonable :)

Cheers
