Automating .gif Output

I'm trying to output a logo of my site with the background color of each web safe color as the web user can customize their background. I was going to use a .png but it is 13k compared to an optimized 4k of a .gif and I don't think IE supports this anyway.

The question - is there a program that can automate the creation of all 200+ variations of the same logo with different backgrounds?

I know it would be a tedious task, but come on, saving 200+ versions of the same image on different backgrounds should take all of 10 minutes. Maybe 15 minutes.

how about making the logo with a transparent background and then let the user worry about the table cell or whatever when they use it? Will save you a lot a time and even cover the nonwebsafe colors.

Yes, transparent background is a good option!

BUT

In the transparent background option too you have to specify an option for (Matte:)If you say none, then the image gets distorted from it's edges.

So the challenge is here...

maybe what you could do is, give a matte of white color(#FFFFFF).

But keep one thing in mind your logo will look good only on soft bag colors, whereas on dark backgrounds your logo will have a thin outline of white.

Try it out!

Cheers,

good point - I should have mentioned maybe a couple transparent logos are in order - one made from an original dark background and one from a white background. 2 is still a darn site faster than 200 :)

Ya my logo - you can see site from profile just doesn't seem to work with a transparent background - maybe this was lack of foresight by the illustrator.

And if someone thinks they can do this in short order, I will be glad to compensate someone for it. I can't do this nearly that fast. PM if interested as i think id like to output them all if software isn't avail.

Thanks for replies.

Sorry about the 10 to 15 minute comment. That was based on an assumption that you had the source graphic.

If you don't have the source image (illustrator, photoshop, etc.), then you should try to obtain it. The image has anti-aliasing or feathering that causes the color of the text to bleed into the background. So your gif has many pixels in that area that are somewhere between blue and white.

You could possibly remove most of those by hand, but then you lose fidelity and the image will look choppy.

With the original source file, you could easily change the background color and resave it. The anti-aliasing would then blend in with the new background.

If you can't get to the source file, you might be able to manage by carefully selecting just the outline areas (laso tool) and then making some type of hue adjustment.
