psp faded image help

I am creating some buttons for a site, I now have a button that has a faded image on it, however i want to put some text over the top but everytime i do this is faded also, What is the correct way to fade an image but then put text over the top which is not faded, even a link to a tutorial would be of help, have found many tutorials but none seemed to answer this question.

Did you try adding a new layer for your text?
I found the PSP help quite useful, but of course it's a matter of time studying it.....

Well to be honest i dont really know what i am doing in psp, I did add new layer then just went back to the text tool and added the text in the same way but i could not work out how to get it onto that layer, Will try and work though the help section.

Actually if you just add text, then go to layers>convert to raster layer that should do it.
