Hi:

I have an image on my site, I matched the images bg color with the contents bg color so they match. However, now I notice that I can see the images block outline. I'd imagine it was degraded after saving and exporting the image.

You can see the image in my profile, it's the one that says, 'presents Quality of Work Life' with the headphones. You can see the outline.

Is there anyway to correct this? When I try to extract the content from the background the image gets all distorted. I just want to rid myself of any mismatching if possible.

Any suggestions are appreciated.

There is no way to guarantee that the color will match. You may want to read the web-safe color palette discussion [digital-web.com] at Digital Web for some background on this and related issues.

I use transparency as much as possible, using Photoshop's approximation of the destination background color for the matte.

In addition to above try saving as a jpg. Gif palletes are not always matching because of the compression, but jpgs work better.

Thanks for the suggestions...I see so many sites with perfect color-matching that I have to wonder.

Yep they don't match. Background of image is #DECEAD and the background of page is #DDCDAB.

See if this doesn't work:

Sometimes colours can match differently when viewed in 16bit and 32bit colour on your computer too....
