Hi Guys,
Compliments on a great site!

I'm trying to put together 3 songs with a number of images for a friend of mine on a slide show that will play on an overhead projector.......for his wedding.

I know there are a number of choices
1.Flash
2.Quicktime pro
3.Powerpoint

As anyone out there any experience of this?
It would be nice for the image show to sync with the songs in the background.

Any info would be great,
KInd Regards
Barry

Barry , Welcome to WebmasterWorld!

My advice would be to get a cheap video editor ($29-$99) and insert still .jpeg's, etc. and put a music track on it and use a projector to show it.

It's very common and works quite well, easy to use and you have a lot of control and can have some very nice effects.

Furthermore, you can burn it to VCD and give it to them as a gift and they can watch it again and again in the future!

Hi ScottM,

Thanks for your reply, your info is very much appreciated.

'Cheap video editor'..........would you have a recommendation?
I was thinking of Quicktime Pro or one of the Real Media Products?

Thanks again,
Barry

I'm not sure about those products, never used them. I think even Windows XP has a built in free one, but I'm not sure. Do a little searching on line for some reviews and pick one and go with it.

The easiest solution is Apple's iPhoto. It is super easy to do exactly what you are talking about.

1. Select which pictures you want in a slide show and put them in a folder.

2. Click on the huge, easy to find "Create Slide Show" button.

3. Choose which song(s) you want the slide show to have playing behind it and you're done.

You can also export slide shows in various formats (including a DVD) if you want to share it with others. And because it's made by the design folks at Apple, the quality is amazing.

Here's the iPhoto page at Apple:

Here's the page where they talk about making a slide show:

If you have a Windows PC, I've heard great things about Picasa as a Windows alternative to iPhoto.

I did something just like that for my church on PowerPoint. They had a video projecter so I just plugged my laptop up to it with the video output. It was very easy. It was the first time I ever used Power Point.

Hi Ogletree,

Powerpoint sounds feasable. (I've never done this either)
Would I be presumptous in saying that it is possible to synchronise the 3 songs with the slide show so that, it starts with the first song and ends with the last song?

I suppose I won't know until I try!
Thank you everyone for your help, what a great forum.

Kind regards
Barry

PicturesToExe is built for the job.
Captions sound sequence and interval are all easily set.

I have V3.30 and that is really good but V4.20 is out now and is only $24.

It's not automatic but you can do it. You just need to know exactly how long the songs are. You just set it up first then tweak the times for each picture. It's pretty easy.

We had one for our wedding made and ended up using a company we found online.
[dvdphotographs.com ]

We only paid about $70 for ours and it saved us the trouble of scanning the photos and messing with PowerPoint. Turned out great with music.

iMovie and Microsoft Movie Maker can both do this, but iMovie is *much* cooler and easier to use.
