This is probably something obvious, but I haven't come up w/ it yet! I've put together a number of websites, and now I'm finally working on my own. I want a thumbnail screenshot of each site in my portfolio page. Anyone know a simple method of doing this? I'm using Fireworks/Dreamweaver MX. THANKS!

Or you can see if your host provides ImageMagick for use on their webserver. If they don't, ask them if they are willing to.

That way you can pass any images you have on your site through ImageMagick, which will generate a thumbnail for viewing. This way you won't have to generate a thumbnail for every image you have, or any future images you may add later.

Add-on question-

(May actually be a php question!) Does anyone know how this can be done automatically, server side (There is at least one search engine that seems to do this, and there's a whois site that does too...)? I'd like my web portfolio to update itself every so often so that my screenshots actually look like the current state of the site...

I can work with ImageMagick, but how do I get the initial shot of the site?

I don't know if you are familiar with a free service called thumbshot (thumbnail snapshot). You can get web thumbnail screenshot preview for your site at [thumbshots.org...] and [thumbshots.com...]

The pictures download really fast and they show exactly what you want to see. They offer really good service. A few hundred web sites are using the thumbshots service. It's quite cool and highly recommended! :)
