Is it possible to do something similar to step #9 in this PhotoShop tutorial in Fireworks? I've got the raindrops figured out, but can't figure out how to distort the text like this.

As far as I know yes you can however you will need to beg borrow or steal a plugin for fireworks to make it happen. I used to teach students how to use fireworks and one of them brought a cd into class once with a heap of plugins and one of them did something similar to what you are looking for. Im sorry I cant tell you where to find it ... perhaps go to the macrodmedia site and ask on one of their forums ...
