Fireworks color problem

Photoshop to fireworks color discrepancy

I'm not sure what the problem is but when I import a file created in Photoshop (cut & paste or import method) the colors lose their sharpness in Fireworks (and subsequently in the browser preview). For example my orange (#FF9900 web safe color) is a lot duller. Same with all the other web safe colors I'm using in my document. I double checked the optimization settings in Fireworks and all are set to not reduce the image quality at this point.

Any idas would be greatly appreciated.

thanks.!

Likely to be your colour profile in Photoshop. Try playing with 'Color settings' under the 'Edit' menu (at least in Photoshop 8). All you're seeing is two different interpretations of how the colour should be displayed.

Yes, my color settings in Photoshop is set to "Web Graphics Default" if I switch it to "No Color management" then it looks dull same as in Fireworks. Is there a way in Fireworks 4.0 to set the color settings to "Web Graphics Default" for display purposes?

I don't think Fireworks supports colour profiles.

If you're designing for the web then your colour space should reflect what a web browser would show ... so why not just switch off the Photoshop profile and pick a brighter colour?

If all your colours look dull then they're either meant to be that way (unlikely if you're citing bright orange!) or your monitor needs calibrating. If you're running Windows you should have the Adobe Gamma control in your control panel. Run through the wizard on that to see if it makes things any better.
