Just received my new Nikon 5400 and can't wait to try it out. I'm not very adept with photo stuff though so all these instructions are gonna slow me down - a lot. I've been using a Kodak DC120 from the dark ages - easy and certainly has been a good camera, but I need to get much closer and sharper images so the learning curve will start now.

Besides the short courses site, can anyone recommend a good online tutorial for using all these great new features?

Hey nancyb,
You are going to LOVE the Nikon. I am 4 weeks into owning 5700. I upgraded from a Sony with the floppy drive.....

The Nikon take great pictures. It meters well. The white balance is terrific.

BUT you figured out the weakness with these camera..... The learning curve is steep... not just steep, but nearly impossible.

My formal training is in photography.... Large Format....Zone system......Dye transfer and I almost took my camera back. I could not believe how difficult the initial period was. But at the end of two weeks, it clicked. The Nikons were designed by photographers , for photographers. The only film camera I have left is a Nikon F1 that is 30 years old. That F1 still really works well.

Nikon makes a heck of a camera. I am totaly pleased with the my new Nikon Coolpix 5700 and I hope and know that you will love the 5400.
