Hello -

I have been busy setting up a new webcam with a wide angle lens, and have set it up with the 194kb screen capture pic being edited (by droplet/batch file) in Photoshop (to get a cropped, optimised pic 480x240x10kb). Then use a JScipt to FTP it to the web page - very fast loading.

Here is the problem - I don't know how to get PShop to work in the background - every 10 minutes it takes over the whole darn computer while it processes the next upload pic.
This is having a negative effect on my productivity(and sanity).

I have tried setting the lnk properties to "Minimised" with no effect.

wow I thought I knew just about everything there was to know about photoshop lol....

I hope I dont state the obvious.....first its always preferable to have your photoshop swap file on a different drive or partition...

also somewere in photoshops general settings you can change the amount of memory usage being used by photoshop...you probably dont want it up in the 60's IF I remember correctly photoshops default is 50...If I am just doing fine art reproduction and I think about it I will jack it up a bit.....

perhaps helpfull i dont know......
I used to use a utility called speed up my pc actually it was something else, cant quite put my finger on it...regulates ram usage...I was able to define resources spent on various things.....ie: raise and lower priorities

Hi -

I obviously didn't explain clearly, the machine can handle the load OK, what is bugging me is that while I am working, typing in some stuff, it all goes out of sight and P/Shop's screen comes on top and if I am not looking at the screen, the typing is all wasted - P/Shop takes control, and I have to wait till the program is finished before I can carry on using the computer.

I need this whole batch program to be "running in the background" somehow....
