Need better print quality on selected pages?

You can achieve 150dpi print quality with your images.

Create images at 200% of the display size, then define the image width and height at the display size.

Produces a 72dpi display, and sends a 150dpi image to the printer.

Longer load time, so use this only when needed.

That could be a good feature for art/portfolio sites: 'Click for print image' link and a pop-up window with the higher res. image in it.

Using a pop up window also means they can continue browsing the 'low-res' sections of the site while the image loads.

Nice trick minnapple. I can certainly see where that would be handy. I use the "click on the image" trick to expand screen shots some times, but I never thought of it for the whole page printout effect.

For things you want people to print you shoud just use Adobe Acrobat . You get complete controll of fonts layout and images and the reader ships with most browsers (and opens right in the browser window).

Welcome Typo! I see you have posted several times and nobody has given welcome ... We are usually more on top of things than that.

Minnapple: This technique doesn't affect how the images look on the screen quality-wise?

I've seen images at much large than 72ppi displayed on websites... (generally because the site owner doesn't know how to use image editing software :) ) So they dump a 144ppi photo right off their digital camera into their webpage, and just specify the desired display size. Didn't look bad, just took too long to load. Wouldn't do it except in special instances when you wanted the image to be printable.

But (nod to typophile), if you want a whole page to be printable, you might be well advised to create a printing version in Acrobat.

And yes, welcome typo! (Maybe that's not the best nickname...) I recall answering posts of yours before, but I guess I never gave an offical hello!
