Some of my ads are consistently in the premium position as I have no competition on these keywords. CTR X Bid is consistently >40. Now my ads are off to the right side of the page instead of premium slot.
I wonder whats up.

Nothing is up :)
Adwords in premium is a bonus, and google are always tweaking the algo around it along with keeping it very hush-hush.
wouldnt let it worry you too much.

I have the opposite problem. I have one keyword that I bid on which only has one other person also bidding on this keyword. This other person's ad always shows to the right side of the page, but whenever I run my ad it shows in the premium position. I don't want it to show in the premium position, I think I get more clicks but less ROI in this position. I think people click on the ads on the left for information, and ads on the right if they want to purchase a product. My ad is for a single product mini site which I am trying to get sales from, and the premium position does not seem to work for me. I don't understand why mine shows all the time in the premium position, but yet if I pause my ad the other persons ad will still show on the right.

Hmm. I have a keyword with no competition, and I haven't seen this happen. Maybe I need more than a 0.10 bid.

I am only bidding .05 on the keyword I am using, and it still goes in the premium position every time I resume the ad.
