CPC listings in SERPS?

Is Google planning on introducing CPC within free listings?

Over the last couple of months I have heard rumours that Google is planning on introducing advertising within the 'free' listings in the New Year.

I first heard it from a contact in a leading search engine...then again from someone else.

If you could point me in the direction of any postings on this matter, I would be grateful.

Having gone to a major effort to separate paid for and free listings i would doubt it.

Are your sources from competing search engines or the online ad-agencies/affiliate networks? These are probably two of the possibles most threatened by google's current apparant business model.

Welcome to WebmasterWorld

The world of search engine marketing is a world of rumours, lots of people with lots of different interests :)

I have not heard this one, and frankly until I see any further evidence I don't feel like believing it.

Hi chiyo,

The info came from a competitor, which probably says it all.

Omguk,

The online arena is full of rumours such as this.

Google "know" what their popularity and profitability is based on,

A very powerful businessman once said to me:

"Shak, You know you have made it, when people start talking about your downfall"

so lets put this baby to bed for now, as I am sure there are lots of other things to talk about which will increase the size of our wallets.

and finally Welcome to Webmasterworld [webmasterworld.com]
