PPC Bidding Wars on Amazon Book Pages

Hey, they're advertising right next to our book...

One of our clients was looking at their book listing on Amazon and discovered, to their shock, three of their competitors' ads running just below the book description.

After tuning up some "exact match" keyphrases to put the client in position one for their own book, I began wondering if others are encountering this (new?) phenomenon - PPC bidding wars on Amazon book pages.

Generic situation: client writes a book to position their firm as an authority in some field. Competitors use the book title to grab ad space right below.

Lessons learned: we've added "related book titles" to our list of special keyphrases to consider for future PPC campaigns...

Isn't this an AdWords situation?

You're right, Tom. Still finding my way around the forum. Maybe Brett will repost to the correct venue for me. Sorry!

No problemo, I was wondering whether you found a new ad outlet for us!

Possibly interesting addendum:

It took 3 days for Google to approve the ads for use on partner sites; they appear on Google instantly but are editorially delayed before appearing on Amazon and partners.

This was never an issue for us before - until the client wanted to know "exactly when" the ads would appear on the partner...
