Message Too Old, No Replies

Wow my head is still spinning from what I was just told

I was just informed that currently Adwords does not tell you when a term is disabled. I have thousands of keywords that seem to have much lower impressions and clicks than I would expect, and my Adwords Manager just told me that most likely they are disabled.

So I asked why if the terms are disabled due to low search volume does the system not make that clear? In the past things were very clear which terms were live and which were disabled. The other thing that complicates this whole scenario is that sometimes these keywords are enabled. This is crazy! Why is Google trying to fool us into believing that keywords are active when they are not?

There is no way to really know which keywords are active or not and I find that completely unacceptable - I am trying to find out why this is...hopefully AWA can speak to this matter.

I hope you are just not right. Otherwise - it is really sad.

I am 100% correct - Google does NOT tell you if a term is disabled, they only tell you when you if you need to raise your bids!

Again hopefully AdWordsAdvisor can comment - but my Account Manager is at a pretty high level at Google and this
is exactly what she just told me today via our phone conversation.

Please do not call AWA up. The more you push, the more she will stay quiet.

If you are 100% correct, then the situation is clear:

So I asked why if the terms are disabled due to low search volume does the system not make that clear?

The answer is easy - if you do not see that status, you do not complain.

"The answer is easy - if you do not see that status, you do not complain."

What are you talking about?

I mean - There was many complaints concerning disabled keywords here.

Now - nobody can see the disabled status, nobody complains. Easy :-)

Bostonseo,

Could you tell us what the ad diagnostics tool says for the words that you have that have been "disabled" but still show active?

jim2003,

I am unfamiliar with the Ad Diagnostics tool - how do I check this?

Go to the tools page and click on the ad diagnostic tool and enter one of these types of keywords you are talking about. I would be curious to find out what it reports as well.

Here is what it says when I put on the terms that is not being displayed into the diagnostics tool. What is frustrating though is these terms periodically DO trigger ads - there is no consistency. Anyway, my displeasure is that Google should indicate if terms are not triggering ads. Or if these keywords are considered 'too low volume', then should not be approved in the first place.

You have no ads that match the search term

Reason
The keyword phrase you've entered doesn't currently trigger any of your ads.

What does this mean?
You may receive this message if the keyword or keyword phrase you've entered:

* Is in a paused or deleted Ad Group or campaign.
* Doesn't exist in your account.
* Is rarely included in search queries. (In this case, your ad will being showing for this keyword soon. You don't need to do anything.)

What can I do?
Please review your campaign or Ad Group and make sure your keyword is active. To find a keyword and/or its status within your account, you can use our account-wide search feature. This feature finds matches among your keywords, ad text, and Ad Group or campaign names. You'll find the search box at the top of any page within the 'Campaign Management' tab.

You will get:

Ad not shown ¦ Reason: The clickthrough rate (CTR) for this keyword does not meet the minimum performance requirement.

It is indeed the only way we have right now to determine what were once called "disabled" keywords.

Boston,

I've only gotten your message when an ad or keyword is new and presumably of a sensitive nature that will require human review. I've never gotten your message on an "old" keyword (and I've got plenty of them). The only exception to that is the rare keyword that is actually marked "Disapproved" in the Status column, something that I haven't seen in some time.

I'll consistently get the "CTR too low" message on those that have simply stopped showing. Most of the time when I check by searching the "stopped" terms, no ads are showing at all.
