My credit card was charged but the payment was declined

Is this a new policy?

I asked about this and they told me it's only a pending pre-authorization that the billing system has made to my credit card?

Why would they do that? For the last 4 years they always charged directly my credit card? I don't understand..

Now I have to wait for the pre-authorization to disappear and then charge the credit card again.

I am seriously worried. Is this a new policy?

I need some information..

i had the same problem last week, and it took 4 days for the reserved amount to come off my card.

You shouldn't need to pay again. A PRE-authorization is generally followed by a POST-authorization. In many cases, I will pre-authorize a card when I want to make sure that there are enough funds to cover a purchase that isn't ready to be shipped yet-then I post-authorize the transaction when I ship the item.

A preauthorization generally puts a 3 day hold (I think) on the funds. It is not the same as a decline.

So this means that as soon as the pre-authorization is gone google will be paid and my ads will run again?!

Right now, in my account, the payment was declined. But the card was pre-authorized?!

But in the e-mail they told me that as soon as it's gone, I will need to re-enter my credit card information and they will pre-authorize the card again and then charge the card, they told me this means I would need the double amount.

The thing i don't understand is the pre-authorization thing.. It never happened to me before.. Why are they doing this now?

I have the same problem,

I thought that were technical problems from my bank,
First, the payment was done apparently normally, the card was pre-authorized.
after of some hours, "payment declined" :(
stopped campaigns!

NOW I tried with new a CC to make the payment($515),

03/01 GOOGLE *ADWORDS US 1,00

all OK, (the campaigns run again)
BUT, after 2 hours, "payment declined" :(
my cards have sufficient credit!

robjones2, you said you had the same problem last week? Did you have to re-enter your credit card information or was the payment done automatically?

I have to tell you that pre-auth is pretty confusing to implement from the credit-card issuer's point of view too... B^>

And when you re-entered your credit card information what happened? Was your card pre-authorized again or was it charged?

it kept getting declined, because the 'pre-auth' used my available card balance.

after 3 days, i tried it again, putting in the same card details, and it worked.
