Keyword not appearing on Adwords - Help!

Hi
I am having serious problems trying to appear for a two-word phrase on Adwords. Google have said that the first word is a trademarked term (although other terms also include it and are fine). This is fair enough if it applies to all advertisers but there are 6/7 competitors regularly appearing for this keyword and have been for many months. Having asked Google about this, they have said that there are ways around the system but are not prepared to let me know what they are. I have tried several things and they work for a few hours and are then taken down. I cannot understand how the other companies can stay up.

Has anyone else had this problem? It is an important term for us. There are a lot of searches performed on this keyword and when our ads were appearing we were getting sales from this term as we still are from other PPC search engines. I did try increasing the bid amount to see if this made a difference but still no show. If all ads are not showing because of a valid reason then I could understand but now I feel our competitors are gaining an unfair advantage and Google are allowing this to happen. My boss as you can appreciate is not at all happy and thinks if our competitors can make it happen then I should be able to! Help!

Just to update, I have tried broad matching the term and use negative terms so the relevancy is better. This hasn't worked. Someone suggested using {keyword} in titles and descriptions and this hasn't work. We have also tried using variations of words. No luck. Yet there are still other advertisers showing for this term. Is this right?

Speak to your contact and get them to have a look

Welcome to WebmasterWorld, peor!

I agree with sheldon101, and think your best bet would be to contact the AdWords support team and ask for specific advice - since they can actually see your account and the specific keywords about which you are concerned.

Without more specific info, all of us here are simply guessing.

When you contact them, be very specific about what words you wish to use, and ask what you'd need to do to be able to use them. It could be that you may need to ask the trademark owner to make an exception in your case. But, as I said, I'm only guessing.

>Google have said that the first
>word is a trademarked term

I have been challenged using trademarked terms and gotten them approved. One term in particular was well known enough that the owner published trademark usage guidelines. I provided Google the URL to the guidelines and an excerpt from guidelines showing that I was using the term consistent with the published guideline. ... approved.
