On Overture they estimate a CTR of 5% but on my most competative terms I'm getting between 12% and 30%. I'm guessing that this is because the spots look as if they are results from the search, and they are relevant.
With AdWords the spots do not resemble the search results, and although the traffic on my terms is outrageous compared to the traffic through Overture, I'm not getting the same results or even close (% wise) so far.
What is a reasonable CTR for AdWords and does AdWords require a min. % before droping that term from your campaign?
I think >1% is good, as relating to ROI, but you can decrease wastage if you have enough impressions if you go to around 2% CRT.
I only get 3-5% in more targeted campaigns with less treffic.
I try to keep above 1.5% at all times, and remove the lowest CRT keywords and ads at tiems, addign others. it's an ongoing process, and you should see your CRT slowly creeping up.
I have some keywords at 50-100% CRT funnily enough, but with so few impressions as to be useless. So it really depends on your bodget and how many eyeballs there are available for your keywords.

I believe that the $5 fee is for campaign reactivation and not individual keywords. I could be wrong, the faq on the subject isn't quite clear about it. https*//adwords.google.com/select/faq/troubleshooting.html#4
From my first experience in adwords about a year ago I was getting about 2-5% clickthrough. I had 1 general ad for my site targeting about 15 words.
I created more ads to target each keyword specificly and my clickthrough rates have gone up to 8-30%. I have noticed conversions also!
I plan to tune up my overture ads today and hope to get similar results.
After Esmerelda my site has recovered a bit but I plan to stick with the adwords anyway. (Is it a conspiracy?)
