I inherited a campaign with just two kw phrases, broad match, no negative kws, only one ad creative etc. Seemed easy to improve!

I've started a new campaign and now have a comprehensive kw list with negative kws. All kws are "phrase match" and I have included the two kw phrases from the previous campaign.

The CTR is up from 6.4% to 9.7%. The max CPC is the same as previous. The average position is about the same as previous.

The thing that is concerning me is that the average CPC has gone up by £0.07 on each of the two previously broad match phrases.

Is there some recognised reason for this? Hope you can help.

hi there,

It could be something to do with your old campaign having a better historical CTR over the time is was live.

If you give it time it may decrease again, but any changes to your ad will make the ad loose the historical data.

It is best if you want to improve the ad copy, to create another ad in the same group and let this build up over time before getting rid of the other one.

hope this helps a bit.
