adult ads allowed or not?

I thought ads which are promoting adult content were not allowed.

But now I even see them at Google Search when searching for a non adult topic.

Yes, Google allows adult PPC ads.

I'm seeing rampant adult ads (with eye-brow raising language) on very general keywords (non-adult related)... not to mention that they're shown with moderate filtering "on".

I submit these to my rep on an ongoing basis, but the problem has not gone away... In some cases, adult ads make up 5 of 8 listings for a keyword with many more than 8 legitimate advertisers.

Non-Family Safe & Adult Sexual Content

- Ads are reviewed and categorized as "FamilySafe," "Non-FamilySafe," or "Adult Sexual Content" on a case-by-case basis.
- After our AdWords Specialists categorize the ads, Google generally allows ads containing adult themes, such as explicit sexual content, provided that they meet the conditions for AdWords advertising.
- These ads may not be accepted on our ad network of sites and products. -Therefore, there is a possibility that your ads will appear only on Google search results pages.
- Ads categorized as "Adult Sexual Content" aren't accepted in certain countries such as Germany and India, and won't appear on Google search pages or via the Google Network for those countries.

But I have seen some weird adult ads, even when using a site command search on a none adult site. I reported this at my blog, with screen shots, but I won't link to it.

Might it not be the case that it would be easier now to run a campaign with a bunch of adult ads on non-adult keywords, since the new changes to the Adwords program? At least until someone at Google noticed? There don't seem to be a lot of rules about relevance anymore - as long as you're willing to pay the CPC they want, they run the ad. And if you don't identify it as adult themed, and they don't have a flag in place - well, what's to stop someone from running a bunch of adult ads for words like "nickelodean" or "disneyworld"?

I've had a problem for months trying to advertise a work in which an actor's surname appears that could mean something offensive when taken by itself.

Despite explicit permission to use it, every so often they must run some automated check that comes around and suspends it again. Says it "may be offensive to some people".

Yesterday, I answered the suspension notice with "Don't bother looking at it, I deleted the ad".

I tried another PPC and their interface says if I want to use that "term", I should be checking the adult content box otherwise it won't show until human review.

That's the problem with computers making decisions on language, it cannot put things within context!

I've also got some "soft" adult oriented campaigns that had been running fine forever. So fine that all my broad terms qualify for expanded broad match. So fully, that when I look at my logs, I see the strangest queries that have nothing to do with what I advertise. I couldn't even begin to come up with all the possible negative keywords to block them!

A few days back, a bunch of terms were disapproved in the campaign. It appears they were disapproved not because they were too foul, but too medical in nature by using all the proper anatomical terms. I find it hard to believe a human disapproved them as Google states words are only disapproved after human review.

Computers really don't understand how sex works! It seems some humans are confused too.
