allo everyone,
Am working for a Internet travel company based in East Africa. Most of our customers are inbound tourists from Europe and America.Our site ranks highly with Google and we are usually in position 1 in gooole searches for certain highly competitive keywords in the travel industry. Since we are in the low season in tourism right now, we intend to use Google Adwords to increase traffic to our site. This is our first time in using AdWords.

Like I said, since most of our customers come from Europe, can I include German, Italian or even Spanish keywords related to african travel as part of our campaign? Has anyone had any experience or success with this kind of variation of keywords in relation to the kind of business they do even though their site content may be written in English?

3mice,

Welcome to Webmasterworld.

Maybe the solution will be to create seperate campaigns based on language "english, german, italian etc etc" and have the creatives written in the local language, but deliver the visitors to an english site.

From past experience, Google should NOT have a problem with this, and CTR is quite high, however there is the small % of visitors who will exit when they land on the site only to find English.

Give it a shot, see what you think, use ROI tracking where possible, and the world is your oyster.

Good Luck

I would be interested in knowing how this works out. We have been toying with trying to target a hispanic market through CPC ads using Spanish words but we are an English (language) site, so we have been hesitant to do so.

Just an idea: How about limiting where the non english keywords will appear.For example, I could use a German related keyword and decide that my paricular ad will only appear in Germany{If memory serves me correctly I read a post where Google AdWords gives you the choice of choosing which countries your ad might appear}
You can then write your ad description in English so that those who can read english can click through to your site thus minimising exits from your site.
