Got tired of the bidding war that broke out with a new UK competitor (I'm in US). He's advertising his terms globally. I split mine this morning to be first in all countries but UK (tougher than it sounds). Let him be first in UK. He searches Google, finds himself first, and stops outbidding us. I'll concede part of his market rather than overspend.

At least that's how I'm hoping it plays out. I don't think he's going into his account and seeing that his terms aren't first all the time. I think he's doing searches to check. We'll see.

Let's hope your competitor doesn't read this forum ;-)

He'll also always have an idea because of the average placement in the daily results. We have one term where it shows our average as 4.2 however in all the major markets that we care about we are the only one there. Can only assume that in Blodavia there are 10 advertisers.

This worked in stopping the bidding war, FWIW.

TomWaits,

Hey Caught You! I am your UK competitor! :) (Joking).

Anyway, how can you know you competitor is from UK? You do a whois search with his domain?

They're one of the leaders in their UK market. We've been following them for awhile.
