Site Targeted Text Ad Size

Hi All,

I'm trying to determine whether a text format site targeted CPM ad will always be expanded as necessary to fill even the smallest of the image format ad units (inline rectangle I believe)?

Or is it possible to have a site targeted text ad the same size as a regular keyword targeted ad?

In the Site targeting help document 'How does CPM pricing work?' at [adwords.google.com ], it says:

"A CPM ad occupies the entire ad space, with either an image ad or an expanded text ad."

However at "What will site targeted ads look like?"
[adwords.google.com ], it says:

"Site-targeted campaigns can include text ads, image ads, or both. Site-targeted ads will appear in the same sizes and the same page positions as standard keyword-targeted ads."

Are these statements are contradictory? How can site targeted ads be the same size as a regular keyword text ad when site targeted ads must fill the entire ad space?

Thanks in anticipation.

perhaps i am misunderstanding you, but the points seem consistent to me... they are just a little unclear with the terms.

CPM ads will fill the ENTIRE ad block, but the ad block dimensions will match the dimensions that you set in your adsense code. i dont think google will ever play with the overall dimensions of your ad block - that would really mess with your page design. they will however, play with what is happening within your ad block.

so if you have a large leaderboard that usually has 4 text ads... a cpm ad, might fill the entire leaderboard with text, much like a PSA ad... an image ad could also fill the entire leaderboard. alternatively, they are leaving the door open to say, half cpm text ad, and half cpm image ad.

sorry if i misunderstood you.

Thanks for your helpful reply.

Absolutely . . . I understand that okay.

alternatively, they are leaving the door open to say, half cpm text ad, and half cpm image ad.

(1) So you think it may be possible to have that leaderboard with two text ads the size of regular keyword text ads (for example), and the remainder filled by CPM image ad?

(2) Have you ever seen an example of an ad unit half filled with text ads and the balance by an image ad?

I always took the impression that if an image ad was to be deployed, it would always fill the ad unit.
