Being on page two really might affect how often it gets clicked though, if your target is a quick-feed type of searcher, they probably won't look at page two. (That really depends on your market though, if you attract researcher types, they may well hit the first 5 pages before deciding where to click.:)
Try to get your position up to 4 or 5 and see if there is an increase in the click thru rate. You don't want to have a low click thru, but you already know that. I personally don't find it helpful to fight for the top spot, my CTR has always been best in the 3rd and 4th positions.

Your position generally keeps changing all the time across 24 hours mainly because of your competitors reaching their daily budget and taking their ads offline. If that happens, your ad MAYBE shown in the first page (for a certain duration of time). You might have got some of those impressions when they were in the first page.
