Hi,

I'm trying to set up Google AdWords for my Dad's site. Since he is a small business working in construction he only wants his ads to display in Scotland.

So I am wondering how well the geographical restrictions work in Adwords?

I have a suspicion that Google thinks everyone in the UK is in London.

I checked the Language Tools page (http://www.google.com/language_tools?hl=en) and it appears there is no specific Google site, but Scots Gaelic is listed as a language if that's something you're going for.

Try doing Location Targeting instead of Global or Nationwide in your campagin settings.

Otherwise you can always put the word Scotland in your ad copy (creative) and that should limit the 'London' clicks.

Good luck!

Being based in Scotland, we are actually doing some research on this at the moment. Early indications are that it is certainly not 100% accurate but better than nothing.

However it is still worthwhile setting up campaigns for search phrases that include scotland with UK targetting.
