This forum used to be incredibly helpful to my small consulting practice.

Today, not-so-much, especially on the Google Ads front.

With all due respect to Buckworks and Skibum (and of course Brett and Jim(?) and team) is there anything that can be done to bring this amazing resource back?

This sadly sort of reminds me of the old (and last) days of the I-Sales and I-Marketing listserves.

Pretty sure that's where I read Danny Sullivan's great writing for the first time.

In those days, I learned about affiliate marketing through this new thing called books dot com.

I expect some of the "givers" probably got tired with giving advice and tips all the time, certainly I have had plenty of help on here for which I am grateful. Perhaps the people like me and you who have benefited should now step up to the plate and comment for others?

Alternatively "those that know" are in the subscription area now.

Happy to help.

Not so much going on over at Supporters.

Last message was December 2022, and there are less than 10 posts for 2022.

Part of the challenge for any forum is fragmentation: When most forums started there was no social media, and now there's also lots of it. In addition, many users find that social media doesn't have the same community around it, with many people today not "giving back." That same sort of thing transfers to forums with newbies asking questions, and then never coming back to help others, unlike the early days of forums.

The best thing we can all do is to participate, and to help others: It's part of what makes a good community online, or offline.

People come, people go. Fact of life.

Some give, some take. Fact of life.

If one sticks around long enough you can see the ebb and flow, and be a part of it!

Ya, but there was something different here. We all know it. This was professional. People became "real" over time. Sure, ebb and flow, yes, but damn, this was good.

Out on the wild, you never know if you are speaking to a bot, or a Google Employee, or what.

At least here, somehow, I felt like I could trust people. Whatever.

Guess I need to head over to Instagram now to find an SEO Influencer.

No thank you.

"Influencers"
Well, that's a whole new bag of spanners!

I think when twitter came along in 2006, that started the decline of forums in general, including WebmasterWorld. now its all self promotion crap everywhere you look, building personal brands 🥱

Some of us don't have much to say that we haven't already said! :-)

Yeah, but what you have to say that you HAVEN'T said would be really interesting to me.

So many changes, the more they change, the more they stay the same.
