I would doubt an algo change would affect Google Ads.

How much are your visitors down?

Ads campaigns need hands on management when things are not performing as expected, have you checked your quality score?

You might get ideas and insight from others who have had the same situation, for example: [webmasterworld.com...]

The only relation I can imagine would be changes to the quality score. If a site was highly ranked and now is not, it would change that score which would either cost more to promote or be shown less.

Seems like such a simple question, but it's pretty complex.
There are so many factors that could be the cause, and there could be several.
I also doubt G's SEO changes is among them.
Take a close look into every facet you can slice (devices, audiences, auction insights, avg position, imp share, etc).

Is there a new competitor on the scene, or has an existing competitor started outbidding you?

Seems that starting with August 3rd all branded keywords are more expensive (in average with 30%). And the % seems to be higher for desktop.
Tested on several countries, more than 5mil impressions, no changes in competition.
