In my Adwords stats I was looking at the all traffic section and it shows that someone from "best-ping-service-usa-blue visit us referral" clicked 20 times my site today. I am not sure exactly what this means but will that be detrimental for my site re Google? It shows 100% bounce rate for the visits, pings or whatever it was doing. I have a screenshot, is there way to attach a file so it can be seen? Should I try to prevent this from happening and how to prevent it?

Thank you for your help.

Hi DChan,

No need for the screenshot. These pinging services are common. They have their uses, e.g. to watch server up-time, but if you didn't sign-up for it they are mostly just spamming (letting you know hey exist hoping you'll sign-up.) There is also the possibility someone else initiated it.

I don't see pinging as anything that would hurt either your Google ranking or Adwords account.

However, if you want it to stop, I would first go to that site and attempt to opt-out, or contact them to stop.

If that doesn't stop them, you could always block their IP address or User Agent. If you want assistance with blocking, post in the Apache Code Forum [webmasterworld.com]
