Does anyone have any advice for getting placed on content network for properties that you select and target? I can't seem to get any impressions on anything but terrible mobile apps and youtube channels no matter what I try.

When you selected and targeted them, did you enter page URL or Domain Names?
Did you use the Display Planner to find relevant pages or domains?
Did you add hand-picked Placements as "Bid" or "Bid and Target"?
Did you ditch the leading junk (domain.com, not http anything, not www. anything)?
Can you see AdSense blocks on things you picked out?

>> terrible mobile apps

Add this to your excluded placements:

adsenseformobileapps.com

It will save you a lot of money.

I'm actually appaled at how hard google makes it to advertise on targeted placements.

Adding "adsenseformobileapps.com" helped remove targeting to mobile. Thank you!

THe other "secret" was to edit my placements, choose campaign -> click "+" on placements, click "Edit all placements" and set automated targeting to "no automated targeting"

of course i lost a lot of money figuring this out on my own.. the documentation on the new interface is severely lacking and the default behaviors are highly skewed in googles favor - disgustingly so. No one could help on the official adsense forums and the rep that has been emailing me back and forth ignores all my hard questions.

The "Automatic targeting" or "aggressive targeting" apparently "shouldn't" have happened with 0 keywords (since i chose placements) but for some reason, it appears the new interface changes your placements into observations if this isn't set right.. i had to go and fix this half a dozen times it seems before everything was the way i want.

Now the million dollar question, is there a way to create all this config as default behaviors for new campaigns?

anyone know if excluding "youtube.com" is enough to exclude all youtube ads?

automatic placement even put my ads on websites that google chrome won't even let me open because they're blocked by chromes malware protection.. how messed up is that!
