7000 impressions per hour seems a bit extreme, but it depends on what keywords you are using. I don't think Content CTR affects your regular CTR so it probably doesn't matter too much. However if you are not getting any clicks out of it, then it might be best to turn off Content Match.

By the way, does anybody know how are keywords displayed in Content Match? I mean based on what criteria?
Is it some kind of broadmatch?
For example, if my kw is "blue widgets" (let's say broadmatched) what kind of Content could trigger my kw?

Maybe if we can better understand Content, we could manage it better.

I've noticed that sometimes if your ad is being shown on content sites that feature people or events that are currently in the headline news, your impressions will shoot up too. I've noticed hugh spikes for some of my Paris Hilton sites when she's in the news for some inane reason.

You don't have a Michael Jackson site by chance :)

The problem with these news is that you can never think what possible connections could you KW establish with them.
No, no Michael Jackson site... :)
But for example, if your kw is "metal widgets" , could you have impressions due to news related let's say to a heavy metal band (why not Metallica)?

And also other strange "links" that you can never expect..

That is one reason why I don't run content ads...
