I was wondering if there was any place online which provide an insight into CPC costs over time (such as month-on-month or year-on-year) for verticals in terms of Google Adwords advertising please? Particularly interested in the finance and retail sectors.

Also, how are CPC costs looking at the current time for people compared to the same time last year please?

Thanks very much. Really appreciate any insight!

I've been looking at this issue for our businesses and verticals. Across the web there are various pieces that cover this topic...but dang if I haven't copied any of them.

In a general context, while the financial media keeps reporting that average cpc costs and revenues to google keep dropping...all I see are ever increasing cpc costs to our businesses and then confirmation on that from various articles.

The info that comes from google and is picked up by the financial media about average cpc costs dropping is very misleading.

Great point earlpearl. I feel exactly the same way as you do about how Google CPCs are reported in the financial media versus our own experience of spiralling costs!

While information is thin on the ground, I've found a few sources comparing costs. Webmasterworld was the only forum on which I'd regularly get into trouble for linking to websites (usually by Marcia - not sure if she still a mod.), so I'll hold off from linking to the resources I've found. If anybody would like them, feel free to PM me.

you can just search average cpc adwords and usually get some stuff. you can try advanced searches limiting results to say the past 6 months.
