Google advertising

Adverts for adwords on other sites.

Whilst surfing I came across a banner for Google adwords.

The url above is the image used for the advert. and is not the advert it's self.

Is this something new or have they been doing this before. I know they where running ads for the Google search aplication but I have never seen adverts for any of their advertising solutions

Ya, there's been several mentions of it in the forums. There are also banners running on some sites.

It's not unheard of for Google to buy advertising. They bought a huge bunch in nov-dec of 2000.
