If you do a search for a musician or band, (famous, like Beatles, Rolling Stones, Frank Zappa, etc), or related search, like "[__name_of_band__] discography" G puts the same horizontal black band of images ahead of text results -- but that is the first time I've seen it for a generic "thing".
