Excluding mobile devices from LP in enh campaigns

We developed a series of landing pages for our campaigns.

The problem is that they look HIDEOUS, UGLY, HORRENDOUS on a phone.

It seems that the enhanced campaigns show on all devices. I'm trying to figure out how to have separate landing pages for desktops and mobile devices. (ideally from within adwords, not using joomla to make the choice of pages to serve)

I'd appreciate any thoughts.

Others might have other suggestions, but here's what I'd do:

Go in to the "Settings" for your enhanced campaigns, and look for the adjustment called "Change mobile bid adjustment" (which IMHO ought to be a lot easier to find!).

Apply a percentage reduction for "Mobile devices with full browsers", in this case probably the largest number the system will accept.

That will reduce the bids for your ads on mobile phones so they'll appear less often on mobile, and maybe not at all depending on the competitive landscape.

Next, make a new campaign and do the reverse: apply a percentage increase for the mobile bid adjustment. That campaign would use the landing page(s) for mobile devices.

If you apply a bid modifier of -100% mobile; the campaign will not show on mobile devices.

If you have mobile pages, then you can create a regular desktop ad and a 'mobile preferred'ad so each ad goes to the correct page by device.

Use the desktop destination URL in the typical ad and the mobile destination URL in the mobile preferred ad.

The URLs by ad preference will let you control if the user sees your normal or mobile page, and if you just want to skip mobile for now; -100% mobile bid adjustments will keep you off the device completely.
