If you build good PPC underneath it, it works very well (many of my peers disagree firmly, so test it yourself).
If you build poor PPC underneath it, it's like adding cruise control to a car whose engine spurts and murmurs, it will make things even worse, and complicate troubleshooting and analysis of why your car can't maintain it's speed.
