Underlying CTR and Conversion Rates vs. Position

For Each Engine, does anyone have good general #'s on this

Hi Folks,

Many of you are familiar with GOG's model which discounts your CTR based on the underlying CTR you "should" be getting in a particular position.

I am trying to get some statistical data on how (overall) CTR and conversion rate generally vary with position in each SE. If GOG uses such #'s for CTR, I figure a bunch of savvy types like us can figure them out.

I would love to have a good debate about whether there are some loose figures out there, what they are, and if they can be used reliably.

Gratzi!

So I am guessing no one has numbers, or perhaps no one wants to share...

Bueller, bueller, bueller, bueller?

This discussion has a few links to articles which discuss various CTR rates by engines.

As each vertical & keyword varies tremendously on conversion and CTR statistics, general stats aren't that useful for most.

'buy red widget' will have a higher conversion rate and lower impressions than 'widget'. So an average of the two really doesn't give you a very good perspective of conversion rates.
