Does anyone have a list of abbreviations
adwords allows? I know "Int'l" is ok, but what about "biz" for business? Thanks.
Welcome to WebmasterWorld, boulder!
There is not a published list, but I can tell you that 'biz' would be an approvable abbreviation for 'business'. I would sort of advise against using such abbreviations simply to saves space, though. On the other hand, if you're writing an informal and breezy ad, they may well be appropriate. Just remember that your ads says a great deal about you. It is the entirety of what a user knows about you, until they've gone to your site - and has to convince them that they want to do business with you.
If you're targeting Fortune 500 companies, for example, I might suggest avoiding 'biz' in your ads. ;)
A rule of thumb: It is all about being understood. So, if the abbreviation has entered into the 'popular vernacular', so that it is universally understood, then there is a very good chance it will be approvable.
Other examples of approvable informal abbreviates would be words like 'foto', 'pics', 'lite' (as in 'lite cream cheese), and so forth.

That's an interesting statement. I guess you are right - using abbreviations might not be very appropriate for "corporate" B2B related ads.
