Using Competetors names in Adwords

Hello, I was toying with the idea of useing the names of my competetors sites as keywords for google. Does this seem too low brow to you? I was thinking about it, and it seemed to me there was nothing wronjg with having an alternate source pop up when they are looking for something. It's what adwords is all about.

Anyone else out there doing this?

I have seen someone do this already. I think it is underhanded but what can you do about it.

What if the brand name has become a generic part of the language such as:

Coke - carbonated soft drink
Jeep - off road vehicle
Hoover - vacuum cleaner

Seems to me there was a thread in which this subject was discussed.

If the content included "comparison shopping" and your competitor was listed then it was OK to bid on them as a KW - or something like that.

Yeah, Mike has it right.. to be legit you have to have a comparison page. That doesn't mean that it's impossible to do it without one, but it you don't you leave yourself open to your competitor complaining and google removing that ad (or even a lawsuit).
