Hey everyone:

Just trying ad an Image Ad for the first time to test the waters.

Do they show on Search network? Or just the content network? If it shows on search, where (what part of search results page) can I expect it to show up? (I am not currently doing content network because I never get ANY sales though it.)

My ad is 200 X 200

Also, if you have ANY tips about image ads, please let me know.

Thanks in advance.

(P.S. I would like to try product placement ads again but it seems like they are particularly complex if you only want to limit to a few products. If there is a good tutorial on product placement ads, please let me know. Thanks.)

content, now called display network.

try something bigger than 200x200, you'll get more imps, and can convey your message better as well.

Thank you, RhinoFish:

content, now called display network.

So they DON'T display on search? Bummer...

That's probably why my image ad is still listed as "under review" even though I submitted it four days ago

Thanks for the tip. I was hoping to start out simple and work up from there, but yeah, 200X200 is pretty small, and if I am paying the same amount no matter the image size, I guess that it makes sense to try something bigger.

images on Search can be done, through Product Listing Ads, which require you to have a datafeed uploaded into your Google Merchant Center account, then you link your AW to it.

what are Product Listing Ads:
[adwords.google.com...]

images from that same feed can also be used as product extensions on the Search side:
[adwords.google.com...]

but these things above aren't banner advertising, they are product images, as free standing image ads (Product Listing Ads), or as as Extension (look for the + sign on ppc ads) of your PPC text ads on Search.

so yes, banners go on Display, not Search.

and when you first start, there's more review cycle delay. test some text ads alongside them if you're eager to get running asap.

Thank you again, RhinoFish;

I think google would make a LOT MORE MONEY from us advertisers if they more clearly explained this.
