Or alternatively, do "deleted" campaigns affect your account at all?
I've tried deleting out some old campaigns, and all it does is say "Campaign Deleted" beside it.
I want to just get them out of the account altogether. How do I remove a campaign plain and simple?
Madmatt69, deleted campaigns, Ad Groups, and keywords are all a permanent part of the database - so while they are not active any more, the info is still available.
You'd probably be surprised how many people want to see this information later. Some of the more common reasons for looking at deleted items:
* Learning from one's mistakes
* Seeing what worked in the past
* Seeing what keywords one has already tried
* Restarting after a change in plans
* Taxes!
By the way, you can always choose whether or not to actually see the deleted items in your account. There are separate settings for campaigns, Ad Groups, and keywords that allow you to see (or not see) the deleted (and/or paused) items.

Do these deleted campaigns count towards your "max # of keywords" and "max # of campaigns"?
Nope. But if you hit the max number of campaigns and try to undelete one, you won't be able to either (same goes for paused campaigns)
I check my deleted stuff once in a while and sometime even revert the delete as conversions turned out not so bad after all :)
