What gets flagged when an Adwords account is slapped?

Adwords, slapped, flagged

Hi guys,

great little community you have here. Glad to be the newest addition.

Here is my issue with PPC - I have had an account slapped about 6 months ago. I was promoting some sites that Google found dodgy. Since then I have completely shifted my efforts but I still have the same issues. I made a new account and the quality score was 3/10 within minutes for all my keywords.

Then, I opened a third account, from a new computer with a new IP address and using my GF's name and credit card. Again the same thing happened. Now I am sure that the websites I am promoting now are not dodgy.

So, my question is this - what could be getting flagged when a slap happens? An IP? A computer? The name? Address? Website server IP?

Emailing their support is getting me nowhere. I keep getting generic responses about increasing the bids and improving the quality of the content?

Maybe if I got new hosting for my future websites?

What do you guys think?

i think pretending you're someone else and repeatedly opening new accounts, in violation of their TOS, exacerbates things for you.

If your account is banned, and they tie the new account to the old one you will get insta-banned, not a low quality score.

Your score is low because something is wrong with the pages you're advertising.

Low score can simply indicative of a low quality page.

Maybe there is a better and more creative usable way to offer your product or service in a way where there can be a win-win relationship?

what I am saying that I am offering different products now. I used to offer ebooks in the health/remedies niche, now I am working with my brother on selling his original music compositions for saxophone and midi files.

And while the former might be considered evasive, the later is pure substance and great value, but I am under the impression that mu history weighs me down somehow.

That's what I am saying....

Having brought campaigns back to life many times, and sometimes within days, I'm of the opinion that your own previous history has no effect. Some have a different opinion but I see no evidence of it.

Rhino, Luke and Cain are saying the same thing I answered to your post of this question on the DP forum. My guess is you might be using irrelevant keywords so check to see what Google thinks. You then need to improve your ads on your relevant keywords.

I have never had any problems with Google, but then I have never done any evil.

I think the problem is that the people who do evil, can't compete in a world where everybody plays fair.

I don't belive that Google has the resources of the NSA, but instead people get banned based on repeat behavior, not be some convoluted path between an old identity and new identity.

What I also found suspicious is that people that claim they were wronged unjustily by Google, never consulted a lawyer to mediate. Especially with the amount of money they claim they are losing.

If you were wronged by Google, and it is in no way your fault, then call a lawyer.

Disclaimer: I am not a lawyer and I am not giving legal advice :)

Re: lgn1

Disclaimer: you are a philosopher and are giving stupid answers.

You have the audacity to call me evil, and I am selling music online...it's a pity stupidity doesn't hurt..

I think you are confusing something here. A low quality score doesn't mean Google does not like you personally - it means the ad and the landing page and the keyword you choose don't match.

You get a QS of 3 and think it is because Google doesn't like you, you open a new account, create the same ad for the same page, same keywords and are surprised - because you think your QS should now be higher. After all what could Google have against your girlfriend.

You are so on the wrong track - it almost hurts.

Sorry KEFALO, I had two windows open and somehow posted to the wrong, but similiar thread in this category. Totally out of context for your case.

I too have a keyword that is well performing, has no problems, well targeted, great ad copy, 10% CTR, and a great conversion rate, since the landing page and the keyword are very relevent to each other. However I can't get the Quality Score above 4, while with most of my other keywords, im generally 7 to 10.

I suspect that there are a few glitches in the QS system.

what jecasc said!

Seriously, you need to go and read up on what QS is and how it's calculated and stop thinking that Google are somehow after you.

jecasc, why don't you read the thread before you make irrelevant comments?

You say:

"You get a QS of 3 and think it is because Google doesn't like you, you open a new account, create the same ad for the same page, same keywords and are surprised - because you think your QS should now be higher. After all what could Google have against your girlfriend."

It is NOT the same product and NOT the same keywords.

I used to promote ebooks that could be considered evasive, but today I am promoting original sheet music for saxophone and clarinet using keywords like "sheet music for saxophone"...

You are so comfortable and oblivious in your corner just because you don't have problems right now and want to believe that things like this cannot happen.

Why would Google be against my GF? Where did I say that?

I said that I have doubts that my IP, my computer or something might be blacklisted.

I pray to God you never go through what I am going through.

If you do, I pray to God nobody mentions "keyword relevancy" to you despite your years of experience.

And if they do mention it, I pray to God you find the strength not to strangle them :)

Two major reasons your QS would be so low:

1. Poor CTR compared to competitors. That's how QS is calculated. You therefore have not mastered how to create ads that people find interesting and click on.

2. Poor keyword relevancy. You haven't told us yet if Adwords thinks your keywords are relevant. My guess is that it may be part of the problem. Find out by hovering over the bubble next to each keyword. A window will open up and tell you. If relevancy is poor, you lose 2.5 points off your QS.

3. As long as your accounts don't promote using the same keywords, you'll be fine. However, there's no reason to have multiple accounts. If there was a problem, your QS would be 1 across the board. If you are using more than one account, cancel the extra ones before you get into further trouble that will be much harder, if not impossible, to get out of.
