Narrowing down converting Content network sites

It's been too long since I've gone through and found the specific websites converting for me in the Content Network.

What's the best way these days to find this info?
(What would you do once you have it? Is site-targeting still effective?)

Dusting off the old Adwords Editor over here...

Choose a period of at least 4 days - anything shorter & it won't show results.
Open a Campaign or adgroup & click on the "Networks" tag.
You'll see "display Network automatic placements".

Now you'll see a list of sites where your content ads have been appearing.

Highlite the url & right click.
Go to the website & decide if it's what you want or not.
If not click the box on the left & after reviewing the page go to the top & click "exclude placements.
Review the list & save.

I do this everyday & have eliminated hundreds of on-line free video gaming sites among others.

Tropical, thanks for the simple and effective way to get rid of crap sites.

My next question is, what is the 'optimal' way to create/set-up a "Managed placement". I see you can just move domains to 'managed', but what is a general rule in terms of what you do next? Leave Max CPC the same, or up it? Create specific ads for these new domains target audience? Specific URLs, or just domains? Etc

The last time I did this, the process was much more complex than it currently looks, and so I never properly tended to managed placements, in fact, I turned them all altogether. I have a wealth of data though, and I plan on attacking only in the advisable fashion:)

It's going to depend on what your goals are. If the goal is tied to a sale of a product you may want to make your well converting sales a CPA program where you target how much you are willing to pay for an action and let Google decide on the CPC to get you traffic that generates a target margin.
