I have 2 adwords showing in the campaign summrty at average position 1.4 in google adwords and they get 170 impressions per day.

Which is ok but how come they don't show in adwords many times during the day and I've not exceeded my daily budget?

Did you set up any geotargets for your keywords in the campaign settings? Such as limiting it to a different country than you reside, or state, or city. That would be the most common explanation for your problems.

astoller, even though your daily budget is not being exceeded, this still sounds like a daily budget issue. I'd say that 98% of the time, when an ad sometimes appears and sometimes doesn't, it has to do with daily budget.

Surprisingly, whether or not your actual budget has been used up is not an important factor in how often you ad shows. There are many other factors considered, and there are lots of threads here that discuss this in more detail - but for the moment, I'd do this:

* Be sure to check for your 'recommended budget' on the 'Edit Campaign Settings page. If it higher than your actual budget, then your ad won't show all the time.

* You may just wish to experiment with raising your budget on a temporary basis, and seeing if your ad shows more. I'd bet that it will.

* Or, trim down your keyword list only your best or most important keywords. This will cause your ad to show more often as well, as the budget will have to support fewer keywords.
